Hard to understand why a Gerdau would spend $4.2 billion for a company, only to run it into the ground. Even if the steel industry wasn't struggling right now, this mill would be fighting to keep it's head above water due to poor management. Gerdau is a Brazilian owned company.

Brazilian integrated steelmaker Gerdau has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with energy producer Power Global to develop a solar project at its Midlothian mill in Texas, the steelmaker said. Power Global will help Gerdau build the Gerdau Solar project, which consists of an 80-megawatt power plant made up of 231,000 solar panels. The Project is part of Gerdau’s capital improvement plan to maintain the Midlothian Steel Mill as a competitive steel producer in the global marketplace.
